Tooling for gearbox production support

Brabant Engineering designed and delivered a complete set of production tools for a client that develops energy-efficient drive systems, including those used in plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs). The tools support the prototype assembly of gearboxes, produced in medium-sized batches of up to 250 units.

The solution

During the assembly process, components such as bearings, shafts and gears must be precisely positioned, pressed and secured within the aluminium housing. Due to the limited space inside the housing, manual placement is often not feasible. Special tooling is therefore required to carry out these steps accurately and safely.

Ergonomic design

Some components require a defined and consistent preload during installation. All tools were designed in line with the latest ergonomic standards and based on the Japanese poka-yoke principle, ensuring that parts can only be mounted in one correct way or sequence.
