Linear guide system with rotational and linear damping
For the upgrade of one of our client’s systems, an optical module needed to be replaced. The challenge: the module could withstand a maximum shock of just 7 g.

The solution
Brabant Engineering developed a linear guide system that allows the module to pass through a narrow opening while ensuring a controlled, low-force landing on the interface. To guarantee shock resistance, we combined linear guides with both rotational and linear dampers.
The rotational dampers limit and control the downward movement, while the linear dampers provide additional cushioning at the end of the stroke. This prevents a hard impact when the module makes contact with the interface.
Global application
The result is a well-engineered, shock-resistant solution that fully meets the client’s specifications. Today, this tooling is used worldwide to upgrade this specific type of optical module.
